Acupuncture / Electro Acupuncture
Traditional Chinese Acupuncture involves the insertion of fine acupuncture needles in precise points of the body to balance energy flow, alleviate energy blockages and improve “Qi”. Western science explains the benefits of acupuncture as a result of Endorphin release, reflex muscle inhibition and stimulation of nerve endings. The effects of acupuncture can be further enhanced by the use of electrical stimulation, this is called functional needling. Functional needling is a form of acupuncture that involves the use of small impulses to stimulate the muscle. This form of treatment is highly effective when targeting trigger points (knots) in a stiff, overworked, injured muscle fiber to achieve relaxation. Functional needling reduces pain and improves the function of the muscle.
