Shockwave Therapy
Shockwave is a relatively new form of therapy that utilizes strong energy pulses that produce bubbles/cavities inside tissues. These cavities form and collapse during the treatment, generating localised energy that stimulates cells in bone and connective tissue (muscles, tendons, ligaments) to regenerate. Think of the long nagging injuries as tissues that have stopped healing on its own, such as old scar tissues or muscle strains. Shockwave therapy can kick-start tissue healing by breaking down any scar tissue and thereby restarting the healing process.
Shockwave may be used to treat:
- Tennis/Golfer’s elbow
- Rotator cuff tendinitis, including calcific rotator cuff tendinitis.
- Achilles tendinitis
- Plantar fasciitis, heel spurs
- Improve bone healing
- Morton’s Neuroma
- Scar tissue.
